Cadbury Bars with Walnuts

About the Recipe

Ingredients

For the cookie bars

-1 cup Cadbury mini eggs, crushed

-1/2 cup chopped Valley Grown Walnuts

-1 large egg

-1/2 cup butter, softened

-1 cup granulated sugar

-1/2 tsp salt

-1/2 tsp baking powder

-1 tsp vanilla extract

1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour


For the frosting

-1/2 cup butter, softened

-3 cups powdered sugar

-2-3 tbsp milk

-blue food coloring



Preparation

For the cookie bars:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F and line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper and grease lightly.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together your butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  4. Mix in the salt, baking powder, and flour until the dough comes together.

  5. Mix in the crushed mini eggs and chopped walnuts.

  6. Spread into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-23 minutes, just until the edges of the bars are a golden brown.

  7. One the bars are cooled, start on the frosting.


For the frosting:

  1. In a large bowl mix together your powdered sugar and butter until creamed together.

  2. Add in one tbsp of milk at a time until you reach your desired frosting consistency.

  3. Add in the blue food coloring, 3-4 drops or more if you want the frosting a bolder blue.

  4. Spread over the bars, and top with chopped mini eggs and any additional chopped walnuts, cut the bars into 12-16 bars, depending on how big you want them.

  5. Eat and ENJOY!
